Jonathan Burden LLC is a Tribeca gallery dealing in antiques, decorative arts, paintings and a few
custom pieces of furniture designed by Jonathan Burden. The gallery is open to the trade and
public. The gallery also incorporates a restoration company that specializes in fine English and
continental furniture. Jonathan was born in Yorkshire, England and worked for Sotheby's restoration
in Zurich, Switzerland and Claverack, NY. Jonathan moved to New York in 1996 and opened his
own gallery/restoration space on Hudson Street. In December 1999 he and a partner Benjamin Izett
opened Burden and Izett Antiques and Works of Art at the present Jonathan Burden LLC location.
When Ben Izett passed away in January 2007, Jonathan renamed the gallery Jonathan Burden LLC.
Jonathan is known for his fine eye and appreciation of idiosyncratic pieces. Jonathan tends to
choose items for their aesthetic quality over period which makes for an interesting mix of different
historical epochs. Jonathan Burden LLC stocks items as diverse as an Egyptian mummy mask, a
17th century refectory table, a large Venini chandelier and a painting by the Scottish painter Lex
Braes. Jonathan also enjoys studying the great furniture designers and craftsmen who have
inspired him to design his own custom pieces of furniture for the gallery.
